Kate Downes, L.Ac.

Kate Downes, an Indianapolis native, has been a proponent of natural and holistic medicine since trying to improve her own health in grade school. While in college she stumbled upon the field of complementary and alternative medicine and instantly resonated with acupuncture and Chinese medicine. She attended the Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at New York Chiropractic College in central New York.

Her studies allowed her to treat a wide variety of disorders in several different clinical settings such as the VA Hospital of Canandaigua, the Seneca Falls Health Center, and Rochester Outpatient Health Center. One of the most rewarding learning experiences she had was an externship at Zhejiang University Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hangzhou, China, where she studied and observed expert Chinese physicians in their traditional setting. She was later invited back by her alma mater to lead a group of students on a similar experience to China.

Early on Kate found herself drawn to the field of reproductive medicine and became passionate about using acupuncture to restore fertility and promote healthy pregnancies as well as to improve women’s health in general. She is the only female acupuncturist in Indiana to specialize exclusively in natural reproductive healthcare. Kate is a licensed acupuncturist and an NCCAOM Diplomat of Oriental Medicine. She is a member of the American Pregnancy Association and the Indiana Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. When not in the office, Kate enjoys discovering downtown Indianapolis, sailing, traveling, and making herbal products.
